This picture was taken in 1989, during the Cold War, when two US Airforce F15’s were scrambled to intercept two Russian Mig 29’s. The Migs were innocently on their way to an air show in Canada.
Colonel Terry Virtis took this amazing photo of the Northern Lights earlier this week from the International Space Station with the UK and Ireland below. ISS orbits approximately 250 miles above Earth.
This amazing photograph was published in September of last year by Lockheed Martin. It depicts pilots and back-seat reconnaissance systems officers of the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, the long-range reconnaissance plane used by the US from 1964-1998.
